SUN AAC Block Bonding ADHESIVE.
 AAC BLOCK JOINTING MORTAR. ASTM STANDARD 1660-9
SUN BLOCK ADHESIVE  is a factory prepared blend of carefully selected raw materials,  portland cement and graded aggregates and polymers. Designed for use with water to produce high strength thixotropic mortar, for laying aerated lightweight concrete, fly ash bricks, cement hollow blocks, cellular concrete blocks or smoothing over the block work surface in layers of up to 12mm thickness, that meet and exceed the requirements of National and International Approximately 200 sq.ft. per 50 kg bag when used at 2-3mm bed thickness Coverage is based on smoothness and evenness of the substrate, size of blocks used and the thickness of mortar used.
Surface Preparation
If a plaster/leveling mortar bed is applied, ensure that it is cured for at least 7 days to achieve proper strength before application of adhesive for construction of block work.
Ensure the substrate is clean and free from impurities like dust, dirt, debris, oil, grease, curing agents, existing paints, loose plaster etc.
Mixing The product can be mixed by hand Pour water in a clean container and then add the powder SUN Block adhesive until the mixture becomes creamy and plastic. Leave the mix to slake for 5-10 min and remix before use. Mix only sufficient quantity of adhesive for the immediate need.
Proportion
Approximately 1 bag of 20 to 50 Kg of VIRSUN SUN Block Adhesive with 12 to 15 liters of Water. Adjust the quantity of liquid to obtain proper consistency.
Applications
Thin bed mortar for laying blocks Before placing mortar, ensure the block work to be dry and surfaces cleaned properly. Place the mixed mortar on the block work In thin layers of 2 to 3 mm (or as required by engineers at the site) using ta rowel and place the next layer of blocks on the mortar. Keep Joints between the blocks as required by the site engineers and fill the Joints with the mixed mortar, using a trowel. Check the plumb of the wall while laying the blocks to keep the walls perfectly vertical to the plumb.
Smoothing over the block work Before placing mixed mortar, apply a bonding layer of 1 to 2mm thick SUN Block Adhesive mortar using a trowel pressing down on the block work. Then apply SUN Block Adhesive at a thickness of 8 to 10mm and smoothen using a sponge or rubber / wooden float. When installing large blocks, spread higher thickness of SUN Block adhesive. Select proper type of notched trowel.
As Adhesive to install tiles SUN Block Adhesive can be used as a thin-set adhesive to Install tiles on SUN Block/Fly ash brick walls. Use a suitable notch trowel to achieve the desired thickness of adhesive for installation of tiles on the wall. The most Important standard to keep in mind Is to ensure that the piece of block Is completely bedded In the mortar or adhesive with 100% coverage after Beat In.
Installation
Wet the surface and remove the excess water before applying the adhesive. Ensure the area Is shaded from sunlight. The adhesive shall be applied with the flat side of the trowel using a scraping motion to work the material into good contact with the surface to be covered. Additional mortar is then applied withthe notched edge of the trowel.

It is a self-curing mortar made from cement, selected fine sand and polymeric additives, which ensure good bonding and durable strength between the blocks. Key Features • Self-curing mortar does not require post curing on.Consumption For 4mm bed thickness coverage is 7 - 7.5 kg/sqm. The coverage will vary depending on surface conditions and undulation in blocks. Shelf Life 12 months from the date of manufacturing in a sealed condition. Store in a cool dry place.
blocks fixed with Sun block Adhesive. • Ready to mix - water to be added at site as per the mixing ratio. • Long potlife reduces the wastage at site, at same time large quantity of material can be mixed. • Good bonding between the blocks and cementitious surface. • Easy to apply. • Economical in use. • Consistent quality material. • Able to withstand hammering, electrical conduting, chiseling and framing done at construction site as per standard masonry practice. • Wall construction speed - Full wall 2-3 days depending upon the adhesive thickness Recommendation It is recommended for fixing AAC, CLC, hollow, concrete blocks & bricks.Mixing • Gradually add 2.5 parts of powder to 1 part of water (by volume) and mix it for 5-10 minutes to achieve smooth paste consistency. • Attempt to be made to break the lump during mixing so that maximum dispersion of polymer takes place in the mortar resulting into good bonding strength with the blocks. • After mixing allow the paste to stand for 2 - 3 minutes to mature and again mix it for paste consistency. • Do not attempt to extend the pot life by adding more water to the mixed adhesive. Application Methodology • Put well mixed weber blokfix on the block with help of trowel, spread mortar uniformly on the unit. • Apply notch trowel on the mortar and firmly place the block with slight shear to ensure good transfer & bonding. •
Sun block Adhesive to be applied on the faces of the block and on column and beam, material to be applied on both i.e surfaces as well as on block to ensure good bonding at the joints. • Use rubber hammer to have good contact between the blocks. • Go on placing the blocks with above method and erect the wall.

Note • Minimum thickness to be applied is 4mm to take care of the undulation in the blocks as well as to ensure minimum 90% transfer leading to good bonding strength. • Notch trowel to be used for the application of Sun block Adhesive • Plastering can be done at construction site as per standard masonry practice generally after 7 days, conduting and chiseling can be done generally after 14 days. Material used for packing on the outer block surface is of lower thickness. Rubbing on applied thin thickness may cause powdering. Consumption For 4mm bed thickness coverage is 7 - 7.5 kg/sqm. The coverage will vary depending on surface conditions and undulation in blocks. Shelf Life 12 months from the date of manufacturing in a sealed condition. Store in a cool dry place.
